Autumn London Couples Session

Coming up to Maria and Ed’s sixth wedding anniversary, which I had photographed on a particularly chilly and blustery January day in 2019, it was a perfect time to get together for a session to celebrate and capture some new couples photos.

We started our session along the Grand Union Canal in Maria and Ed’s neighbourhood of Brentford, full of character thanks to the abundance of colourful narrowboats and industrial heritage, and wound our way up along the canal towards the promise of coffee and baked goods. It was a beautifully moody October day, autumnal leaves scattered along the pavements and the sun peeking out occasionally from behind woolly clouds.

We wanted the photos and session to be lighthearted and reflective of Maria and Ed’s playfulness as a couple and their natural joie de vivre. Incorporating a few props, such as their favourite mugs and a flask of hot tea, coupled with a coffee shop stop really added a sense of ease and flow to the shoot.

Stepping in front of the camera can feel quite vulnerable and exposing for most of us, but finding creative ways to get comfortable and actually enjoy the process is an incredibly rewarding experience which your future self will definitely thank you for.
